Phytonutrients found in grapes called resveratrol can mimic the effect of a very low calorie diet which causes the body to switch on the sirtuin-1 gene. This gene controls the rate at which we age. Scientists discovered that by cutting calories in mice which reduces insulin levels in the blood, reduced blood pressure and boosted HDL cholesterol in those mice. A long term study is being done on monkeys to determine of these phytonutrients will extend their life span as it had in the mice. If this holds true, we can expect a 30% increase in life expectancy in humans who consume resveratrol.

Resveratrol activates a class of proteins in humans called sirtuins, which regulates the human metabolism. This gives the human body the potential to defy aging. The mice that got resveratrol experienced double the muscular endurance, lower cholesterol, reduce colon cancer, and reduce risk of cardiovascular disease.

This is such a great supplement; everybody should be consuming at least 100mg each day to help boost overall health and wellness.
